Vaccines and checkpoints: what to check before travel in parts of Africa

Planning travel in 2026? Check two kinds of information before you go: entry or vaccination documentation rules, and recent public-health actions at borders. Rwanda has maintained enhanced entry screening and land-border checks since mid‑May 2026 in response to the nearby Ebola (Bundibugyo) outbreak in the DRC — see the Rwanda travel-health notice. The Republic of the Congo requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for many arrivals and advises confirming rules for your route — see Congo‑Brazzaville travel health. Recent detections to note: an environmental cVDPV2 sewage sample was reported from Libya in early October 2026 (Libya news), and Togo declared measles outbreaks in Blitta and Ogou after rises since early September 2026 (Togo news). Check the linked pages and official authorities for current entry, vaccination and screening requirements before travel.
